Spears for Fears

This morning we had the opportunity to assist Master Pearson in his bi-monthly weapons seminar in Cincinnati. February’s theme was the spear…what a great weapon! We’ve been waiting for this one for a while and our students were really excited for it also. We had a great turn out! First we practiced some basic spear techniques; stabs, blocks, sweeps and we had a short introduction about the Korean spear and how it differs from the more well known Chinese weapon used in arts like wushu and kung fu. Master Pearson’s creativity shone today as he had the students stabbing their spears into inverted cones duct taped to free standing heavy bags…so much fun! We also helped teach everyone a sweet form which utilizes the spear in all it’s major functions.

Also, don’t forget to check out our video blog. Feel free to give us feedback as it’s the first time we’ve ever done something like that. If you have topics you want us to discuss or you’d like us to ask Master Pearson to discuss feel free to email us at hagsaengnaebu@gmail.com!
